Global Perspective

The Cornerstone of Anthropology

As the first member of my family to complete a baccalaureate education, my college experience provided not only an opportunity to increase my scholarly knowledge, but also the chance to develop a global perspective. Studying abroad in three different continents has drastically expanded my ability to see through the eyes of those outside of my personal experience. Through my coursework, travel, and community engagement, I have been able to gain a deeper understanding of the larger world and broaden my vision of my place within it.

Global Awareness

For Responsible Citizenship

In today's world, global awareness is all but required in order to be competitive. But more important than cultivating an edge in the globalized market is the inherently valuable moral clarity that comes with this knowledge. As our world is drawn ever closer together, our differences must be an avenue through which we may better understand the global community in search of justice for all.

Global Engagement

To Create a Better World

Every one of us carries the responsibility to do our part in improving the lives of all people. In the words of the civil rights activist Fanny Lou Hamer, "Nobody's free until everybody's free." In my pursuit of global knowledge, this sentiment has been more deeply ingrained than ever before. Civil responsibility is no longer a national ideal, but a global duty around which I strive to organize my life's work.
