Arabian Peninsula

Study Abroad

During the winter break of 2017, I participated in an eleven day trip to study abroad in the Arabian Peninsula. This trip provided an invaluable opportunity to learn about cultural communication and conflict management.

Lectures

Academic

Through various lectures presented by faculty, visiting academics, and graduate students I was able to broaden my intellectual understandings of the world; these presentations offered a glimpse into what I hope will be a future fully immersed in academia. Some highlights of these talks were Dr. Mitzi Carter's recent presentation during the latest Science Cafe event on Militarized Borderlands in Okinawa, Japan, as well as lectures given during the 2017 conference titled "The Multidimensionality of Afro-Latin American Anti-Racism Activism in the 21st Century," which was sponsored by the African & African Diaspora Studies Department.

I participated in diverse discussions in which students offered our analyses of topical events, including a forum on safety and justice, as well as various roundtables covering a wide range of subjects.
