AMANDA FOUNTAIN
About Me
I recently graduated summa cum laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Global & Sociocultural Studies.

I chose a focus in anthropology, with certificates in African Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and Afro-Latin American Studies.

My next goal is to complete my graduate studies and engage in ethnographic research, culminating in a doctoral degree in anthropology. My research interests include global racialization processes, indigeneity, diasporas, and postcolonialism.

I was recently awarded a $7,500 Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from the United States Department of Education. I will spend the summer in Ecuador, studying Quechua, South America's most widely spoken indigenous language.

I am pictured here at the 2017 American Anthropological Association Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I hope to present my summer research at the 2018 AAA conference in San Jose, California.
